Emergency Heart Procedure and Hospitalization for Mario Taguines

Hello there everyone!

As some of you may already know, our dad fondly known as Dada Mario, experienced sudden pain in his chest while he was driving to work last Monday, December 8. Being the rock star that he is, he braved driving himself to the E.R. and had the presence of mind to call my sister, Nike, to meet him on the way to St. Luke's Medical Center. Upon arrival, he instantly got a coronary angiogram (a test done to see the status of blood flow through ones' heart) and they found a blockage in one of his arteries.

Unfortunately, due to his blood pressure dropping down to 30/40, he was immediately taken to the operating room for an angioplasty (an invasive procedure opening the clogged artery to increase blood flow). A coronary stent is also embedded to prevent the artery from closing in the long term. Meanwhile, a temporary pacemaker was placed for steadier pulse whilst sedated to prevent his blood pressure from dropping to lower than 60.

Per stent costs about Php 333,000.000. While the CCU accommodation, procedures done, medications administered, equipment used, laboratory exams taken and other supplies included in the Coronary Intervention Package excluding professional fees already costs Php 873,523.79 or around $16,200.00 as of today, December 11. We, his family was able to provide the Php 50,000.00 deposit already. We're still dealing with the rest and have been pulling some strings. But dads being dads, especially rocker dads like ours, wouldn't want to burden anyone by asking for a huge sum.

So with all of this on the table, we want to reach out to everyone and are appealing to your gentle hearts for a small donation to a very cool, loving and responsible dad so as to prevent our account from accumulating further and avoid any inconvenience upon discharge. We know that Dada Mario / MLT / Philippine Golf's "Yorme" will surely appreciate it especially since he just celebrated his 65th birthday last December 5.

Each day spent with him is priceless and things get put into perspective real fast when things like this come out of nowhere. I know anyone would do and say the same when it comes to someone that they love. May God and the universe bless your soul for caring, especially to a fighter such as my dad.
