Campaign Story
Not long ago we lost our beloved family cat Oogway when he was hit by a car and died instantly. We thought we'd never find another cat like him, who was so great with the kids and had such a great personality.
By chance, we met Oberon. A cute and very confident black kitten. He waltzed into our lives and home and we loved him instantly. Funnily enough he does so many quirky thing our Oogway used to do as well. Oberon, named after the King of Faeries in Shakespeare's Midsummer night's dream, has helped my children heal from the intense grief they felt when Oogway passed. Especially my daughter, who has Asperger's (ASD) was intensely distraught and has found much comfort from Oberon, who is amazing with kids. A real therapy cat!
Last night Oberon came home after being outside for about an hour. He was limping very badly and a visit to the vet revealed a serious injury: the ball of his femur has broken off. He is currently at the vet, kept comfortable on morphine until next week.
We are trying to raise funds to save his life with an amputation of his hind leg. Cats recover great from amputations and adjust very well. The surgery cost around $1200 plus the costs of his stay at the vets, medication, xrays, etc so overall we are looking at 1600-1700 NZD!
Oberon is such an intelligent cat and has an amazing personality. In the short time we've had him he has brought us so much joy and has helped our kids recover from the death of Oogway and is now our daughter's therapy cat.
Please give a little towards Oberon's life saving surgery. It means the world to us.

Anonymous donor sends $1000
Update posted by Josef Kite at 08:59 pmGreat news everyone. I just received a phone call that $1000 has been donated for Oberon, straight to the vets. This paid off his remaining bill at the town vet and the remainder will be transferred to the vet who performed the surgery. This will put us in the clear,. . . . .

Surgery went well for Oberon. On to recovery.
Update posted by Josef Kite at 08:45 amCarin the vet, who offered to do the surgery for a smaller sum, has performed the surgery on Oberon this evening. He got to keep his leg but will need to recover for a long time. He handled the surgery well. More updates tomorrow. Please keep sharing as every little
More hope for Oberon.
Update posted by Josef Kite at 10:30 pmWe have found a different vet who is willing to do surgery on Oberon for a lower price. She will try to save his leg first, if that fails we can still amputate. Vet bills will still be high due to his overnight care all weekend, but hopefully the cost
