Let's help rural communities understand responsible travelers. If you're a responsible traveler, you want to make sure that your great trip really benefits the people and places on which it relies. You want to make sure the cultures and environment is preserved and that livelihoods are improved so that more than the average of £4 out of every £90 you spend actually stays in the place you visit.
But there is another side to just your visit. Teaching. By contributing to this campaign you will enable rural communities to change the way that they work, so that travel has a positive impact and the environment.
That's why Sustainable Rural Development Int'l is organizing a two day introduction to sustainable ways of working that villages from three countries can learn how to improve their lives without destroying the environment or their unique cultures and avoiding the effects of mass tourism.
SRDI will bring together local government officials, NGO, small business owners and academics from Georgia, Turkey and Ukraine to the village of Nukriani in Georgia to learn and to teach. Besides the natural benefit of bringing people together across borders to increase understanding and tolerance, the participants will be able to exchange ideas and set up a trans-national plan to embed sustainable approaches.
You can help these communities thrive and change their lives for the better.
