English Version

In the first week of November 2014, Ellie began to have pain in her right leg. She went to her GP several times and all she heard was that she would have to wait 8-12 weeks with pain before she could have the MRI scan. The doctor was trying different medications to relieve the pain, without success.

On November 27, 2014 she went to the A&E at Leighton Hospital and was denied access to medical help because the nurse said that sciatica is not an accident or trauma. She waited to see the out of hours GP and after describing the nurse what she was feeling, the nurse said she wouldn't be able to see the doctor. She should see her GP, who was doing nothing.

The pain continued getting worse, to the point that she could not stand up for more than 3 minutes. Then, on December 14, while washing up, she felt some dripping between her legs. This turned out to be a urinary incontinence due to pressure on her back. She called 111 and they sent an ambulance in 10 minutes and was classified as high risk. The next day, at 8 am, she had an operation, which subsequently had to be redone 3 days later due to complications. She was discharged from the hospital (University Hospital of North Staffordshire) on the 20th. She was recovering nicely until she had an appointment with the physiotherapist. The physiotherapist manipulated her back incorrectly, which resulted in the internal stitches opening and causing an internal haemorrhage.

The muscles were put out of place because of the manipulation and it possibly caused the clotted bleeding around the vertebrae of the spine and nerve root sciatic leg.

Having said that, she can't walk. Surgery to correct all this is at great risk and could leave her in a wheelchair for the rest of life. Then her body has to absorb this giant clot to release the nerves and then she could walk again. Ellie is self-employed, which complicates her financial situation as she can't work while in hospital. She can't work until discharged. She may loose her contract because the company with which she has the contract can't wait for her recovery.

What do we expect? We can help her financially until she can return to work. And for that, we need your help :) On behalf of Ellie, we thank you for your help and support. Thanks from the bottom of our heart.
