Elephants in the Room

Hello Everyone,

We hope this message finds you well in these unprecedented times. ( < --- We bet you are probably tired of hearing that. lol )

We are writing this to kindly appeal to all of you to help us fund a project we are working on. For our graduation, we are currently developing a 24-minute situational dramedy. The concept is centred around the Khumalo family. Through scenarios and conversation, each episode aims to tackle societal issues and current events in a humorous way. Despite the generational and cultural differences between the members of the family. The series sets out to ask the question of how through conflict and resolution, a family can grow closer together.

For this shoot window, however, we will only be filming the pilot (1st) episode. The story for this episode is as follows:
On the evening of Christina’s birthday, Tapiwa goes to great lengths to ensure that his wife has the perfect birthday dinner. However, his plans soon go awry when his son arrives home with an unexpected surprise.

The story we are aiming to tell is one that is common within our communities, even though it is rarely discussed. Our objective is to explore some of the imperfections that rest within all our imperfect families and do so in a manner that can help us all laugh, learn and hopefully grow.

We will be shooting the project from the 14th - 23rd of August 2021. However, prior to our shoot, we need to purchase equipment and props to effectively build our sets and create the world for our characters to inhabit. In addition to that, we also have actors and crew members that need to be paid, transported and well-fed (or at least fed).

So, by all means, if you can find it within your heart to donate that would be greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate then please do send the link to someone that can. Or, you could do both. No amount is too small or too large.
