Last week, my aunt, Elena, was admitted to the ICU after being diagnosed with TEN - Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis.

It started out with only flu-like symptoms two weeks ago. Everyone thought it was just a common cold... but then as days passed, she started having a high fever, rashes, and swelling in her mouth (making it hard for her to swallow).

She decided to rush to the ER of a public hospital, and was misdiagnosed with Measles. The doctor gave her medicine, told her to wait it out for a week, and simply left.

Three days in, and her condition got a lot worse. Her face was completely swollen, and her skin started peeling off in sheets. She started having a putrid smell. I urged my mom (her sister) to take her to a different ER to get a second opinion, and this was where she was diagnosed with SJS - Stevens-Johnson Syndrome.

Sadly, because of the misdiagnosis and late treatment, almost 90% of her skin has detached from her body, thus upgrading to TEN.

TEN is a rare and severe skin disease resulting from an allergic reaction (Type 4 hypersensitivity). Apparently, her neuro-doctor changed her medication about a month ago, and she started having a late reaction to the medicine two weeks after. Basically, her skin cells (outside, and within her mucous membranes) destroy themselves.

If we continued treating her "Measles" for the next 7 days, she could have died from septic shock or even organ failure. Thankfully, the Lord is good! She is finally getting the treatment she needs to get better. In the ICU, she gets wound treatment for the burns, eye treatment (that would help prevent her from getting blind), and fluid replacement (to flush out all the medicine that's causing the allergy).

Today, we need your help! She is recovering, but not as quick anyone would hope. Her medication, laboratory tests, and admission bills are all piling up and is too much for my mom to cover on her own.

If you find it in your heart to donate, please and thank you! Your kindness and generosity will come back to you ten-fold! If you cannot, I ask you to at least share this so we could reach more people who can.

Thank you and to God be the Glory!
