To whom it may concern,

Meet our father, Algis. He’s a 53 y/o former policeman, sportsman, animal lover and, what’s most important, loving husband and father, who spent all of his life making sure that people around him are safe and happy. Despite his tough childhood in an orphanage and never knowing who his parents are, he managed to grow up, get a job as a police officer and start a family. During 25 years of his service, he rescued children from burning houses, talked people out of the suicide, took care of stray animals and helped everybody who was in need.

But then the 21st of October 2014 hit. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor – Astrocytoma grade 3. Doctors were honest – the prognosis is fatal. After a biopsy, many examinations and consultations he was told the cancer is inoperable. Dad started extreme radiotherapy sessions that lasted about 6 months. Everyone who has gone through it knows how terrible it is. There was a slight remission and dad even started working as a night watchman in a local school. Moreover, he started doing what he loved again – playing football, going to a gym and taking our dog for long walks.

Then after a year, the tumor relapsed. Dad needed to undergo 6 months of chemotherapy. It once again looked like everything’s getting better - he even went to the beach this summer and did other things most healthy people do.But in October of 2018, the MRI showed extreme growth of the tumors both in his left and right hemispheres of the brain. It progressed to Astrocytoma grade 4 – Glioblastoma and started affecting the right side of his pre-frontal cortex that resulted in his body’s left side paralysis. What is more devastating that it happened in less than a month.

Though we don’t really know how many months our dad has left on this Earth, we want to make his biggest wish (after getting better of course) come true – to get him an electric wheelchair so that he could once again spend some time outside. Furthermore, a stair climber is also crucial as it is impossible for us to move him up and down the stairs since we live on the fifth floor of a house with no elevator.

The approximate price of the electric wheelchair is €1500/£1326 /$1700, and an estimated cost of the stair climber is about €2200/£1946/$2495 dollars.

To sum it up, our dad’s dream costs about €3700/£3272/$4195. Any donation will bring our dad a step closer to a simple wish of once again being able to enjoy the outdoors.

Thank you all for your kindness. We will keep you updated.

Kind regards,

Loving family members Inga, Gabija and Eglė

  • Sorry for crashing your campaign. I am suffering from postpartum depression and need professional help in order to give my sons a better life. Any help will do for the treatments I need. Funds will also allow me and my sons to move far from their toxic father who has been causing me to spiral deeper into depression. Help me give my sons a better life.
