I am delighted to say that I have been accepted onto the One Year Intensive Course in Musical Theatre starting in September 2014 at the Rare Studio Liverpool (http://rarestudioliverpool.co.uk/).
I am asking for help with funding for the course fees because without any help, I will be unable to accept my place. The course fees are £7000 for the year, not including the daily transport costs for me to commute from Manchester, however I have been offered a scholarship of 20% meaning my fees are reduced to £5600. Because I have already raised £2600 myself, I now have only a further £3000 to raise. I shall be running the South Manchester 5k Run at Platt Fields Park on Saturday 16th August with all sponsorship money going towards my course fees. I also plan to host a fundraising concert in the near future. I have made pledges available for people to donate a certain amount of money.
My Training and Experience
My passion for performing initially came from receiving piano and violin lessons, and attending shows as a young child. Joining the school choir at secondary school offered me many opportunities including my first TV appearance on BBC's All The Small Things and a place training with the Halle Youth Choir. Alongside my studies I have taken part in as many performances as possible including chorus and principal roles in local pantomimes and leading roles in school musicals. I spent the first two years of my degree at the University of Chichester on the BA (Hons) Music with Musical Theatre course where I received specialist training in musical styles including classical, jazz, opera and musical theatre, both in theory and in practice. I was offered performance opportunities across Europe with the chamber choir, symphony orchestra and operatic society, with my favourite performance being The Magic Flute. I have also undertaken sessions with West End Kids, progressing through their training groups and performing in their revues. Since transferring to Bucks New University to complete my degree, I have had intensive training in all three aspects of musical theatre (acting, singing and dance) and worked with various industry professionals. My roles within Bucks New University productions included Ellen in Oklahoma!, and Frau Hungergurt in Spring Awakening. I have been awarded an 2:2 for my BA (Hons) Musical Theatre. I am hoping to study at Rare Studio to further increase my performing and teaching experience to gain valuable insights to enter the profession.
