Elaine Sarah Coronel is a 23 year old young leader who has been selected as one of the delegates from the Republic of the Philippines to attend the Third Asia World Model United Nations (AWMUN) 2019, that will take place in Bali, Indonesia on November 13th-16th, 2019.
Model United Nations is a simulation of a United Nations Conference by young future diplomats, who are assigned a country to represent in one of the United Nations’ numerous committees with pre-set topics to debate. It is also a platform where young future leaders from all over the world gather in one place with similar aim which is to encourage awareness of current international relations and issues, understand each other’s nation concern and try solve a specific issue by sharing their perspectives, particularly on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that will be discussed in each council.
This conference will help the delegates in improving their skills in leadership, critical thinking, negotiation, and diplomacy while broadening their network.
Elaine started leading a group during her primary years in school starting with a simple project on how to save mother earth in simple steps, it all about going green. In addition to this, she became active in sports, and journalism while travelling to different places to compete which continue up to her secondary education.
During her secondary education, Elaine’s eagerness to help was largely inspiredby the Girl Scout of the Philippines. Elaine received an award as the Chief Girl Scout Medalist which is the highest award you can received for the Girl Scout in the Philippines with the project focusing the undernourished children in her area. Elaine is one of the top students in her school which became the reason for her to travel and compete to different places, attend seminars, camping and training
which gave her an awareness on what is happening with the world while learning different culture and stories.
During her college years Elaine thought of ways on how to reach a larger community while maintaining her academics. She started by joining her degree organization. Afterwards she led an organization under the Socio Civic Religious Organization in her campus named “Lingkod Lasalyano”. Together with her team she where able to create projects for the children, the elderly, the community, and to our Mother Earth. She did not hesitate to reach out to other people, tie-up with organizations locally and internationally. In her last year in college, Elaine joined the College Student Government, it is now time to prepare and educate the rest of the youth on what they can do to make a change, to make a world a better place. Elaine is still part and supporting different organizations locally and internationally wherein she was able to join, share awareness to the public and help in there events and projects when time permits.
Elaine found this great opportunity which will open the door to meet and collaborate with the young future leaders around the world. This is only a part of her story, this conference will help her to share her story and also to listen to other stories, to influence the youth and teach them to voice out and raise awareness on what is happening in the world. Elaine wants to show everyone that a simple act or voice, when combine and put together will make an impact and go a long way. Elaine wants their voice be heard and let them to dare to stand and dare to make a change to make our world a beautiful and happy place to live in.
Elaine has been accepted in this very important conference and now the only thing standing in her way is the price of attending. Please help Elaine in achieving her goals! Any amount will do and will be much appreciated.
