Educational Outreach Program in Masbate

We are a small group of individuals who want to initiate positive change in society in our own small way. We hope to empower the youth in small communities through free and accessible educational and creative programs. We are specifically focused on helping public school students in Cataingan, a small town in the island province of Masbate, Philippines.

To that end, we are holding a series of events this summer. The program is called Tibayan Ta!, which in Masbateno means “Galingan natin!” ("Let's do well!) and “Magaling tayo!” ("We're excellent!"). The events we have planned are as follows:

April 29 Multimedia Workshop (Photography and Video)

April 30-May 2 College Entrance Exam Review

May 3 Writing Workshop

The activities and workshop materials are free of charge for the students. We and the other instructors and facilitators are volunteers and will shoulder our transportation expenses. All funds raised will go to the event venue, accommodations, and workshop materials.

We first held activities last year (as you can see in the gallery) and were lucky to have free accommodations and event venue then. Unfortunately, the previous locations are unavailable this year, and that's why we need to raise funds.
