Hello there! I have been invited to a once-in-a-lifetime Spanish Study Abroad and HIV/AIDS Awareness Programmes in Cali, Colombia at the end of this year. Hence, I have put up this campaign so as to God willing accumulate enough funds to be able to go on this trip.
I am a full time university student. Therefore, I am unable to single-handedly raise $2100 (R31 000), especially in such a short space of time. Moreover, due to the fact that I aspire to become a United Nations Human Rights worker it is of the utmost importance that I strike while the iron is hot and go on this trip so as to further hone my Spanish language skills as well as bring awareness to Colombians with regard to HIV/AIDS -- upon extensive research it is fair to say there is a great wave of ignorance around the topic. Furthermore, my embarking on this trip will ultimately stand me in good stead in 2019 in terms of academics, because, coincidentally, a quarter of my African Studies (one of my majors) modules are solely based upon Colombia and the myriad of challenges the South America country faces. Thus, having physically gone and visited the land will ultimately give me a clearer and more authentic knowedge into these state-of-affairs.
The breakdown of my expenses are as follows:
* Round-trip flights ($1500)
* Visa ($150)
* Travel within Colombia ($100)
* Sundry expenses ($350)
In conclusion, I implore anyone who can assist to do so out of altruism. 'Many hands make light work.'
Much obliged to you :)
