Based on a True Story
Jessica Santi, a foreign exchange student from Italy, comes to San Francisco State University to study Clinical Psychology. She graduates from college and plans a big wedding with her fiancé, Robert Collins. She is given a wedding shower by her friends, a week before her big day. Instead of going straight home from her wedding shower, she decides to stop by the beach to think about her wedding and her wonderful future. As she walks around the beach at 3am in the morning, she notices the presence of a man alone, by the shore…
This man attacks and brutally rapes Jessica and leaves her psychologically scarred. She runs away from it all, calling off her wedding and crushing all desires to work as a psychologist. Through drama and despair and with the advice of her new beggar friend, she seeks professional therapy. After a few months of treatment she decides to go back to work. On her first day of work at the clinic while reviewing new arrival patients, she is met with a surprise of her life. The very man who raped her is a new patient at the clinic. With this secret knowledge, she decides to take on this man as her own personal client.
Jessica struggles to find justice for herself. She is torn between the fact that she has an obligation to provide psychological help to her own rapist and yet desperately wants to seek revenge on him. The story takes many different turns as these two wounded and dark human beings interact with one another. Revenge, hate, compassion, and twisted love are all entangled in the relationship of these two characters that make this story a very unique and original piece of cinematography with a surprising ending.
The Purposed of this documentary
This documentary calls our attention to some important - and difficult - questions. Why do rapes happen? What can be done to prevent them?
WHY DO WE WANT TO MAKE THIS PROJECT?
The idea for this documentary was born when we first learned one of our closer friends was raped after one of our parties. As time went by, we also learned more & more about the inequalities that exists for the protection of women agaist rapes, but also the lack of awarnes by victims on protecting themselves.
Pantera Films decide to produce a movie. Pantera Films is "THE ONE" and only company willing to employ minorities to make this documentary. There are not many media companies that specifically employs minorities and people with disabilities to make documentaries. This step makes Pantera Films with a competitive advantage over any others production companies in Los Angeles.
