Hello you wonderful people of the internet.
I was moved by the speech given by Roy Beck about world poverty and immigration and I've made the decision to travel to mainland China to help educate young children and hopefully make a difference.
To sum up his speech, he talks of mass immigrations to, in this case U.S, will help reduce world poverty. That is not true since the immigrants chosen usually are from the better educated half whom would have a better chance of changing the poverty in their country. Not the poor who desperately needs a better education to change their life. In conclusion he suggest we don't take immigrants but help them where they live.
I can't do anything about world poverty but I do believe this could be a beginning.
My name is Jackie Zheng. I am of Chinese heritage but raised in Denmark. I am still 25 years of age and can only do so much on my own so I thought maybe you wonderful people of the internet would be happy to lend a hand. In January 2017 I will travel to China, hopefully stay there for as long as possible, teaching kids in China. I made plans with a school to work as a non-payed teacher for 6 month as I alone can't afford to stay much longer. If possible i wish to help at least a few kids who are struggling making ends meet because of poverty at home. The donations will go to accomplishing that goal and also help me with my basic living expenses.
So I am reaching out to whomever thinks that this is a worthy cause and is willing to help me as the circumstances of life prevents me from being able to do it all on my own.
I might have set the donation goal a bit high but if we work together i believe we are able give a few young kids a better education.
Thank you for your help and attention!
If you have any suggestions to further better this cause, feel free to do so.
Also I highly recommend you watch his speech:
