Campaign Story
Please consider helping a rather amazing young man called Connor.
I am in the very privileged position of being the single mother of this remarkable 14 year old. I returned to Bermuda with Connor nearly 6 years ago from the UK, when he was a withdrawn and severely anxious little boy. He has experienced quite a difficult time, being traumatised early on by bullying at school in the UK, and also being abandoned by his father.
Remarkably he has made wonderful personal strides since then. Thanks to the incredible kindness and support from professionals who believed in Connor, he has made the Honour Role at Dellwood School, been in the classes for gifted kids, attended a John Hopkins Summer Program at the Centre for Talented Youth, which he was able to attend due to the generosity of several agencies. He has also gone on to attend a home school and made amazing efforts towards his emotional and personal growth and has been able to give back to the community in Haiti by attending a trip to help with the orphanage build and feed the people.
However, Connor has recently achieved another dream and goal. He recently met members of an amazing school called Nancy Campbell in Stratford, Canada http://nancycampbell.net/ (Website is under construction but you can see pdf brochure detailing school) when they visited Bermuda to perform and spread the word of unity and peace. He has managed to impress and attract a substantial award towards his attendance at this school. We are short part of the school fees and as a single parent I am trying my hardest to pay for the remaining school fees, administration fees, flights etc. The opportunity is right within our grasp.
We need to find enough funds to cover his remaining fees at Nancy Campbell, so he can continue to flourish and fulfil his dreams. It is in this regard that I ask for your help. I have arranged a fund for his fees at the school, and hope that by continuing to work hard myself, to do any overtime hours, and with Connor's contribution, he can start and continue his time at Nancy Campbell.
Connor is working, packing groceries for tips, at the local supermarket in order to help contribute as well.
Please contribute anything you can, and I can assure you, Connor will make this opportunity worthwhile.
