Greetings from beautiful Kisii, Kenya!
My name is Dickson Omandi. I am a community leader here in Kisii, Kenya, approximately 5 hrs northwest of Nairobi. I am working with a coordinator in Calgary, Canada to help raise money for the children in this village. I believe education is our gateway to a better future . You can find me on Facebook under my name, Dickson Omandi.
Dickson and his daughter.
Currently the children are going to a school in classroom we rent. There are 64 students attending the school, all are either disabled, orphaned or very poor. In the past year, several have lost 1 or both parents to sickness/disease.
They stay there all day and are fed while they are there. In addition to school materials, we also provide clothes for them.
Recently, the school lost it's funding through not fault of our own.
These children are going to lose their teachers and schooling this spring (2020).
Here is a short video showing the children .....
We plan to build our very own school with 6 classrooms (16'X20') so we can have total control over where and how the kids are taught. WE need land and materials and of course labor to build the school.
Building this permanent school will also help provide education of the young children not yet old enough to attend school.
They need education, food and a place to focus on a better tomorrow.
"Dickson is an extraordinary man. He works tirelessly to improve the life of his people. I am honored to work with him on this project" - A. Stone, Professor, Calgary, AB, Canada
The grades are preschool to grade 3 with 3 teachers. The are taught the well know and regulated Kenyan curriculum.
Any amount of money will help us.
We will be happy to include a Progress Report for you via a Facebook page we are creating for this project.. We know that it is important for you to know where your money is going, especially when it goes abroad.
Perhaps you can come to our village, one day, and see how your money has helped. I have hosted many, many volunteers over many years through https://www.crosscontinental.org/
From the children to you, God Bless.
