Education Funding for German Dual Degree Mechatronics Eng

Hello, my name is Ashlee Liew Ping Wen. I am a Dual Degree Mechatronics Engineering student in the University of Malaysia Pahang. It is a German dual degree programme offered by UMP and Karlsruhe University of Applied Science (HsKA), Germany.

The first four semesters will be dedicated to the foundations of the engineering subjects as well as intensive German language training. After the fifth semester, an assessment of academic and German language knowledge, TestDaF (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache) or ("Test of German as a foreign language"), is conducted by the International Office of HsKA and the German Academic & Career Centre (GACC) to determine the eligibility to advance to the next semester in Germany. I am required to get a score of 14 out of 20 points for TestDaF to proceed to Germany.

There were a total of 14 students enrolled into this programme and I was given the privilege to be selected. This is a lifetime opportunity where I get to broaden my horizon in terms of not only my academics but also my character development through the exposure of different cultures and languages.

The duration of the course is 4.5 years which 9 semesters including a minimum of one semester of industrial training. However, due to the dual degree programme, the semester fee for my course is RM11,065 (2674.97 USD) for the first semester and RM10,545 (2549.26 USD) for the subsequent semesters and the PTPTN loan (a government student loan) for public universities that I have received will be RM5043.6 (1219.29 USD) per annum. The donations to aid my first semester fees as it would reduce the burden beared by my parents are appreciated I am currently searching for scholarships to be applied for after my first semester results are announced next year.
