Education for the Stateless Children of Sabah

Social Advocay Group (SAG), is a non-profit organization initiated to help stateless and undocumented children of Sabah especially in Kota Kinabalu in offering them free education service which manifested in weekly classes that we held near their settlement just kilometres away from the Faculty of Business, Economy and Accountancy of UMS. Their forefathers from Philippines and Indonesia who migrated to Malaysia for economic purposes had settled in the area years before the university was built and now, the stateless children could not enroll in any government let alone private school due to their status quo as undocumented children despite the fact that they have lived their entire life there. Recently, we lost a student who battled thyroid cancer and fungi infections because we could not fund the expense of medical care he needed. We tried to collect fund and asked the community for help but still, the community kept silent about the injustice to a human being. We believe in human rights and we shall protect the right for all even for the undocumented and the stateless. So, as a representative of the International Relations students and the SAG members, I therefore ask for your help in raising fund for the stateless and marginalized community who are thought to be "less human" by others just because they are stateless and part of the undocumented community.
