Education for street children and those working in households and in gold-bearing sites

Background fundraiser. My name is Thomas van Berckel. My Indian wife Lalitha and I founded Toe to Heart Trust www.toetoheart.org through which we in last 15 years have funded school fees and created after school care for dozens of Indian children. 'Toe' stands for material aid and 'Heart' stands for immaterial aid.

In the future Lalitha and I would like to help and inspire to more small scaled projects ran by volunteers which have such a 'Toe and Heart ' combined set up. The project we ask your support for now is in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso and we ask for your help in paying the school fees, food, uniforms, books, school utilities and after school care. The project will be run by Gisele and Sophie, good friends since more than 20 years. Please note that this is not a Toe to Heart project (yet) The costs of supporting one child (all inn, also after school care )per year is about 180 euro's. Children have different backgrounds, street children, domestic workers and some also were working in the infamous gold mines of Burkina Faso. You'll find a video from Unicef about that on this site and also pictures from internet. We don't publish pictures of the children we help for privacy reasons

Please note again: this is a pilot project and after we start all will be formalized and if all goes well we consider to make this a Toe to Heart project or all will be formalized in another way. I have asked for all bills, fee cards, reports etc. Thanks for giving Gisele and Sophie your confidence and to give this project an opportunity to take of and grow.
