Let's do something cool this Christmas!

WHAT’s THE PLAN?

If we team up and each contributed a little something we will raise enough to cover the cost of installing a toilet and a water pump for a family in a rural village (Kok Tnoth to be exact) in Cambodia.

WHY IS THIS PROJECT WORTHY OF MY MONEY?

Great question, here’s another: how much money gets wasted each year on Christmas gifts that are meaningless and/or make our friends fat?

*Tilts head and frowns eyebrows in a thoughtful manner*

During my trip to Cambodia this year I met three amazing people (Darrel, Marion and Chen). They head up this project which installs toilets and water pumps.

They dedicate their time, love and personal financial resources to helping the families in Kok Tnoth.

Although this post focuses on toilets and water pumps they do so much more for the village. Went I visited, everyone referred to them as the Mum and Dad of the village. There was so much love for them. For me, it was beautiful and overwhelming to see the results of human kindness.

WHERE IS THE SUSTAINABILITY ELEMENT?

Darrel provides the families with regular education on how to use the devices hygienically as well as the importance of hygiene.

This knowledge then gets passed down generation to generation; improving the health and hygiene of the village each year.

Health and Hygiene is the sole focus of this project.

Currently, those without toilets go in a bush near their house. If they have a virus (which many do) it comes out in their waste. When the kids run around by the house they inevitably end up standing in this stuff. If the kids have any open wounds they get infected, making it extremely painful to walk.

I witnessed firsthand Marion (one of the project leaders and a qualified nurse), cleaning an infected wound in a little boy’s foot. Marion then went to the market to buy socks and good quality sandals for the boy to reduce the risk of the infection getting worse.

Also, Darrel, Marion and Chen use a local trusted team to install these water devices which helps put money back into their economy.

GRAND FINALE

We all want to change the world and make a positive impact on someone’s life.

So this year, instead of buying more selection boxes our fat cells don’t need; or having an extra glass of wine that leads you to make regrettable decisions with a work colleague.

Let’s use that money and put it towards making the world a healthier place! One toilet, water pump and educated mind at a time.

P.s Anyone who generously donates £50 or more will receive a personalized rhyming poem about themselves, written by yours truly.

I know. Other than a toilet and a water pump, what gift could be better? … no need for actual answers.

Thank you in advance for your kindness!

Rewards

A personalised poem that rhymes with your name, written by someone who has dailysex. Sorry, honest mistake. I mean dyslexia.

  • Great work Jess. I am very proud of you for doing this. You will be saving so many children's lives by giving them clean water. Although don't even think about adopting one for us yet please.
