I’m a single mom with 2-year-old daughter a surf board designer, online Virtual assistant, Call center agent, and a nature lover person. I went islands to islands around Philippines living life as it should be. Meeting different people around makes me realize so much in life after having so much lost “Enjoy and Be Happy” I learned that life is just once and we should not waste it. But people sometimes just had no choice. My dad got a motorbike accident last 2007 and died 2010, He was comatose for 4 years, as a Filipino and being part of our culture, we will do everything and give everything for our love once. Me and my mom suffered also for four years taking care of my dad hoping he will be okay and miracles happened. We lost everything spending it for his medical finances. When he died I started working as a call center agent and being the eldest in the family I’m responsible for my 3 more siblings and my mom. I became the bread winner of the family. Then last year our Home was burned by fire. When my sister next to me graduated and start earning, I started to travel again and have a life. Helping islands with the Clean and Green Programs, participating in helping the nature events, educating kids how nature is important, Helping people realize how to be healthy and the importance of it. Traveling around Philippines for 1 year and a half is an incredible experience that opened my eyes and changed my whole perspective. I finally went home in my home town in Pakiad Oton Iloilo I can say "IM LUCKY" at some point it made me sad. Not because I finally saw how the fire burned our house but the village next to mine the Calajunan Dumpsite. Where most woman's and children’s call it home. Last week an old guy died because a dumpsite truck didn’t notice he was there scavenging. Just another risk faced every day by so-called dump scavengers.
Under the burning sun the smell of these dumps is sickening, exacerbated by dark plumes of thick smoke billowing from piles of trash that have spontaneously combusted because of unstoppable rising methane gases. It is hell on earth, but trapped in an inescapable cycle of poverty, these people have no choice but to call it home. Most of these people do know better and know there’s a better life to be had. They really are without hope because without external help or meaningful government intervention their lives aren’t going to change, but still they get up every day and exist in the most horrendous conditions. I have the greatest of respect for them.
Me Friends and Family decided to make this step to help them, I will be asking help as much as I could to help this people. So many people help me when I’m in need and it’s time for me to give back. And I know so many people have a good heart to make this possible. What I’m looking forward to doing now Is to give them groceries, vitamins and cloths, school supplies, And some materials to help them use and re-use garbage, Give them ideas how can trash be reuse in some ways especially PLASTICS and help them realize that there is more in life, That Health is important. And one day there will be hope. One day they will be able to get out of this poverty and live life happily, Maybe not much but at least enough to live a simple and healthy life.
