Ecuador – The Expedition

Introduction to me

I live in the UK and I am currently a student working through his GCSEs. My School has given the opportunity to students, including myself, to be able to go on a expedition to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. This gives us the opportunity to explore and discover the world in a way we wouldn't be able to do without this incredible chance given to us.

This is important to me as I find that this will teach me how fortunate I am by going to a poorer country, where I will be able to help the small Tsachila Community Santo Domingo. Going there will also be very inspiring to see a different beauty of the world, one different from the beauty of home. From this expedition I hope that I will gain a new perception and a break from what I already find is a hard life, which I know is not really that difficult compared to others, but somewhere in myself I find that I don't truly see that reflecting upon myself, but from all of the pressure and stress of school, now that somethings in my education, I won't get a second chance at. By going to Ecuador I hope to relieve that stress and get back on track, and hope that the future will be more smooth, as I will have learned what it truly means. Although there will be stress from this as well, but I would be more stressed or down if I didn't make this journey, as in the end there will benefit from this more - a knowing that I have accomplished this challenge.

From your contributions you will be giving the start I need in order to get the £4995 I need to raise in the short time I have been given to raise this, which doesn't include all the additional costs I need in order to prepare in going there such as the equipment, the food I need in taking a journey across the country, and the money I need to use over there. Through your contributions, I will become a better person, a more developed person, and a more aware of the world and others.

Making the Journey:

In order to make this journey, I will need a kick in the backside (I'll do it myself - I understand that I need to do it), and a lot of backing as the roughly £6000 (including additional costs) I need. What you will be doing will be allowing me to concentrate on my education more as well as achieving a life's dream/opportunity, that I may not come across in the future, as the I know the future is a road to more work, and I'd like to have done something before I get there.

I am a high achieving student, but I'm never the best at things - I'm more of an all rounder - but where I want to be is the top (2nd place - it's alright). I hope that from this I can say I have done that others haven't, maybe to just touch the top.

I am a very capable person and will make the journey one I'm there and will make as much as I can out of the experience.

If my goal isn't reached, that won't matter, I'll just need to take some of my concentration and put it on this, my education is good, but I know that I am capable, it's just that I need a helping hand from you guys to make it easier on me, I don't want to say that in a selfish way, but you give I will try to give back to the community.

Making the Impact

I believe that the impact on one person's life is much stronger than a small impact on the lives of many. Again not to be selfish, but if you want to make a difference in the world, you'd see a greater one in making a considerable one in the lives of a few.
