Eco Village and Wellness Centre

Nature has been sending her eternal call, calling us to hear and listen to the echoes of her call.

Umenzi is an artist, musician and a herbalist chef who works with the elements of nature and also a

teacher whose interest is in building the African communities. Together with Simone Carrolisen, a teacher, vegan chef and a climate change activist.

After a year of working at a retreat centre in the drakensberg helping seekers on their spiritual journey, healing with food as medicine and also indeginous herbs. We found our livelihood affected by Covid 19 which threatened global health travel and all the industries. So too, we lost our income and home as our centre shut its doors.

Having to adapt to this new reality and re assessing our usefulness we decided to fast trek our lifelong vision of returning to the land. In a time of food scarcity, job insecurity, community health disintegrating. It was time to put our gifts of healing to use.

We then embarked on a journey travelling through South African lands in search of our home. Like the ancient nomadic tribes we have been in movement, settling our camps in many spaces, learning from different communities. Nestled upon a heal above ancient caves, where the river meets the sea found our home a place to plant our seeds of hope and growth.

Our vision is to grow a community healing and learning space, where plant medicine is grown harvested and used to service the local community. Where food is locally grown and produced and where learning is a way of life. An Eco Village and Wellness centre where we are hoping to

share indeginous knowledge of the herbs, permaculture and medicinal plant based food recipes, meditation, yoga, tea healing with many other ancient practices that heals the body, mind and soul.
