The THUSA Pre-primary Schools Project is a community initiative to empower 9 destitute pre-primary schools in the West and North of Pretoria, South Africa by mainly investing in the development of their staff. These schools cater for more than a thousand children, from impoverished homes, utilizing some 100 local caregivers/teachers and supportive staff.
Both the staff and the schools function under difficult conditions and have very limited resources.
Our goal is to raise enough funds for each of these underprivileged pre-schools to implement a Early Childhood Development Curriculum in each of these schools and train the staff, for optimal holistic childhood development.
The Curriculum is created and based on the National Curriculum Framework for ECD in South Africa. If these children get the opportunity and exposure to all the known developmental areas of early childhood development, they will have a fighting chance in formal education. We can prevent future learning difficulties and backlog by offering these schools and children this Curriculum and Training.
