The biohazard suits that protect healthcare workers from contracting Ebola are in short supply in West Africa following a stockpile by US health officials. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has ordered $2.7 million worth of biohazard suits as part of what it calls its 'Strategic National Stockpile'. More than 9,200 people in West Africa have contracted Ebola since the beginning of this outbreak in March, making this the biggest outbreak on record. More than 4,400 people have died as a result of the Ebola virus during this outbreak. The disease continues to spread in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The World Health Organization reported that there could be 10,000 new cases of Ebola every week by December if the virus is not contained.
