Nairobi Kenya is a major business hub in Eastern and Central Africa. Nairobi is home to more than 5 million people. Figures from the recent surveys show that the city has a car parking capacity of 18,800. 26.5% are on street parking, 25.8% are off street parking and 47.7% are building parking.

Utilization for on street is 140%, off street 95% and building parking is at 50%. Interestingly, 65% of the parking space within the CBD is privately owned. Motorist in Nairobi will spend up to 20 minutes to search for a parking spot. With more than 300,000 cars getting into the city and environs within a day, getting a car parking spot is a gamble within Nairobi.

As this happens, 50% of the building parking spaces that are mostly privately owned remain un occupied. The county government controls about 9,000 spaces most of which are on street and a few off-street parking spots. In some parts of the city streets, the government has issued permits for car owners to double park. Commuter vehicles in the city also rely on the on-street parking space to pick up and drop passengers therefore leading to massive congestions in the city.

The whole project will go through a cycle of 3 phases that will be completed in 3.5 months after raising the minimum threshold amount. The key milestones are:

a)Developing a mobile App/website that enables car owners to access empty parking spaces alongside their travel destinations. The App will be customized with features like;

·Searching for a destination on map

·Finding a parking in a given route

·Compare different alternatives in parking fee, distance, duration, security, customer ratings etc.

· Payment and booking

·Fine and bonus management

b)Creating adverts for online, outdoor and on transit platforms

c)Contracting service providers (Carpark owners)
