Hi, my name is Corrie and I am trying to raise money to pay for an Earthwatch Expedition. I barely found out about Earthwatch Institute a week ago and I would really like to participate in the Shark Conservation in Belize Expedition. I tried signing up for the Teen Shark Conservation in Belize Expedition, but the director emailed me saying that the expedition was full. As a result, I did the next best thing and I tried to sign up for the Standard Shark Conservation in Belize Expedition, only to reach the disappointment that the age requirement for standard expeditions is at least 18. I am currently sixteen and the only way I can participate in the standard expedition is if I have a guardian go with me. My parents are restaurant workers and they are planning on financing my expedition trip and airfare by saving as much as they can, but they cannot afford to pay for two trips. I really want my uncle to go with me but he himself is 63 and is unemployed. My uncle has been my parent my whole life; he has been the one taking care of me and watching me grow up all these years. I have never repayed him and this expedition would be a great start. I myself am saving as much as I can and am getting a job at Daiso, but I only have so much time. Of the four standard Shark Conservation in Belize expeditions, only three are in the summer and only one is not filled up. It would be an opportunity of a life time and a great summer experience to live before senior year and share with my uncle.
