Earthquakes in Croatia – please help my family

Dear friends and everyone who wants to help,

You have probably already heard that my country Croatia was hit by a catastrophic earthquake of magnitude 6.4 on the Richter scale with the epicenter in Petrinja - Sisak - Glina on December 29, 2020 and that same earthquake hit my hometown Zaprešić which is poorly mentioned in the media.

I also know that you probably keep seeing similar fundraising campaigns every day and I wouldn’t create another one if I had another choice.

We weren’t regarded as the ones that happen to had a lot in life but home was what gave me security, peace and happiness.

That day, my building and the apartment where my family and I lived (my wife and my 77-year-old mother) were damaged in the earthquake. My mother was slightly injured in the quake. The apartment was damaged so badly that we took with us documents and some clothes only, while the furniture and the rest were destroyed in the earthquake. You can see this in the attached pictures and video. We are temporarily cared for by a friend with whom we cannot stay longer.

The building is badly damaged and needs to be demolished. In the end I can only tell you that I can’t describe that feeling that is in my chest and the moment when you realize that you have been left on the street without your home in just 30 seconds of a devastating earthquake.

I will keep you posted. All investments for all the things we renew will be fully documented, transparent and disclosed - I assure you.
