Campaign Story
Dear colleagues, friends and everyone who wants to help,
I'm a physiotherapist and my home town Petrinja was struck by disastrous earthquakes, among the strongest earthquakes recorded in Central Europe - on 29th December the area was struck by a 6.4 on a Richter scale.
The earthquakes destroyed the building where my parents lived. Whole area is badly damaged and devastated.
3 months ago my parents took out a loan and renovated the home. They are now homeless at the age of 60. We have lost everything we had. My mother does not work due to health problems and my father has a small pension from which they live and cannot afford a new home.
They are homeless again, for the second time. The area suffered a war in the 1990s and never recovered completely, so it was the poorest part of Croatia even before the quakes.
At the moment, we have a shelter, enough food and basic supplies, but a much bigger challenge is to help in the long run, rebuilding home we have lost, which is the goal of this campaign.
Thank you so much for reading this and helping us. Every euro/dollar counts, it really does!
Thank you all with a big and good heart,
Marina
