An earthquake of significant and devastating magnitude 6.4 struck Petrinja and surrounding regions in Croatia on December 29, 2020. Many people have lost their homes. Many buildings have collapsed and the city Petrinja almost doesn’t exist anymore. So many lost loved ones who are yet to be found and so much heartbreak.

Where?

We are so grateful that people help to residents of cities in the destroyed area (Petrinja, Sisak, Glina), but there are people in small and inconspicuous villages who suffer. Our friends from Glinska Poljana and other village residents are getting less help from the state because they are the last on the help list. We are worried that people in the village won't get their houses fixed soon, and the winter just started.

Who?

Our friend's family consists of a housewife mom, a dad who has a lymph node cancer and two student sons. Their house is totally devastated and need to be rebuilt from the ground up, because the house foundation is not firm. At the moment, they are living in a small wooden, 90 years old hut.

The other family we want to help is living next door, the old 80+ year-old couple. Unfortunately, they are not able to fix their house because of lack of money too.

These two families are not the only one in this village. We hope to help as many families as possible, because living conditions were not good for them even before this devastating earthquake.

Unfortunately, Croatia’s economic situation is not in great shape - a big portion of people earns only a minimum wage (around €500) and are desperate now as their houses need crucial repair.

Why?

This time we want to skip the organizations, middle man and 3rd parties that will make this process slower with unnecessary administration. We want to help our friends and families from the village that is detached from bigger cities. We want to help directly to families in need. We want them to sleep in their home with water and heating. We want to see a smile on their face again.

Any donation amount is very much appreciated and we will give it to families in village Glinska Poljana. No compensation or fees on the donations will be taken by the fundraising team. We will give you an update after when the funds are given to families.

Please help us help them. Anything you can do is greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks to all of you who have expressed concern and offered to help in any way.

When?

RIght now.

This campaign will close on Sunday, the 14h of February. The sooner we can help them the better.

One person can't make a big change, but together we can make a huge impact on these families lifes. If we help even to 1 family to build a home, we will make a major improvement.

P.S. We wish you a happy new year!
