A strong 5.5 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale, woke Zagreb residents this morning at 6.24 am. This is the strongest earthquake in the last 140 years. Shortly after, at 7:01 another earthquake magnitude 5.0 hit Zagreb. It was soon followed by a third earthquake of 3.7 according to Richter. Zagreb and the surrounding area suffered considerable material damage. Most of the city is without electricity, the cathedral tower, numerous houses and cars were damaged. Chimneys and parts of the facades were falling, as were the ceilings and furniture. Three hospitals in the city center suffered extensive damage and patients were relocated to other locations. Many residents, whose homes are badly damaged, cannot return to their homes. Let us help everyone who has suffered this tragedy.
