When Ingrid Liberte fostered a deaf Australian Shepherd called Josh, she had a feeling that as time went on more Aussies were going to need new homes. That’s when, in January 2012, the non-profit company, Australian Shepherd South African Rescue Organisation (ASSARO) was started for these rescues, which was subsequently registered in May 2012.

Ingrid Liberte (Ingy) resigned from her job in 2013, and started ASSARO NPC. Her and beloved husband Terrence moved to a farm in Rustenburg, North West Province, to follow the dream of caring for the Australian Shepherd dog and Australian Shepherd crosses. She passionately loves, rehabilitates, rehomes, fund raises, walks , excercises and educates about this intelligent and wonderful breed.

Sadly, in 2017, Ingrid's life partner and business partner was diagnosed with cancer, and the dream turned into a sad downhill for Terrence who eventually lost his battle with cancer on the 7th September 2019 leaving Ingrid to care for the 16 dogs in her care .

Ingrid now needs urgent help with fund raising in order to ensure the running of ASSARO and the future of this NPO. We her friends , have decided to launch this fund in Terrence's memory , as we know that it was their soul dream to make it reality.

All Australian Shepherds that are surrendered to them receive a full health check and get vaccinated, microchipped , get given tick and flea treatment, dewormed and sterilized if necessary. ASSARO relies heavily on donations from supporters and the proceeds from the sale of products such as calendars, T-shirts and mugs.

This is a pro quality life Australian Shepherd Dog rescue organisation.

Funding will cover Food, Veterinary care, emergency transportation, as well as Ingrid's immediate costs for Terrence's outstanding medical bills and funeral costs.
