Early intervention center for ASD and ADHD

Association “Svitac” exists since November 2012. The aim of the association is social and cultural inclusion of children with developmental disabilities. We have made and produced two inclusive musical plays “Alice in Wonderland” and “Little Red Shoes” that we performed more then 30 times in Serbia and which had live stream transmission, as well as filmed play emitted on the national television. We also made one documentary TV movie about preparation of “Little Red Shoes” musical which was supported by the national television of Serbia. Our idea is to expand this activity that we are developing into one place where we will be able to work with great number of children. This will help society to change consciousness about working with children and youth with developmental disabilities and it will give new opportunities for educating children, parents, teachers through free example of good practice and free provided material.

The objectives of the action are:

Since our target group is group of children with developing disabilities (ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral paralysis, speech and hearing problems) our project is based on providing everyday education and developing skills for easier emerging into society through workshops of developing speech though music, social skills, fine motor and gross motor skills. This kind of education gives our target group opportunity for communicating and cooperating with other children of the same age group, different teachers and tutors. The skills that this project provides are the skills necessary for life and which cannot be developed in regular education in schools or through speech therapist treatment. It will give the opportunity for children and parents to get wider education in one place. Their work will also have a great visibility through support of national television, theaters and media. They will have opportunity to bring larger social awareness through skills they emerged through social inclusion.

Considering our association’s previous experience all members are aware of necessity of this type of project that will confirm our aims as a part of this country, region and community. Our decision to pursuit this kind of support from you is an opennig to a new level of cooperation. We are very thankfull for everything.
