How will my donation be used?

You generous donations will go towards relief efforts being led by Dyson PAM and Forward Dyson volunteers. Food and hygiene packs will be needed for an extended period along with support to the clean up and repair once the volcano settles. Excess funds will be donated to supporting charities.

What is happening?

Located within 40km of the PAM office, the Taal volcano started emitting ash on Sunday 12 January. Within 48 hours the government placed the surrounding Batangas area under a state of calamity in the face of earthquakes and a 15km high volcanic plume which blanketed the surrounding area with ash and rock. Difficult driving conditions in the immediate aftermath resulted in road traffic accidents while extreme air quality degradation and infrastructure disruption continue to plague the 14km evacuation zone and beyond.

What's been done so far?

Dozens of Dyson staff were directly impacted by the evacuation and found themselves displaced from their homes; fortunately all are safe and under the care of the local government and Dyson support network. Under the leadership of Richard Perez, PAM responded admirably with their trademark community spirit. A team of Forward Dyson volunteers, led by Aldwin Almario, assisted the Department of Social Welfare and Development to assemble aid packs for distribution. In response to a shortage, additional hygiene packs were also donated and distributed by PAM.

What can we do next?

Apart from the government evacuation centres, many locals have opened their homes to evacuees, including some Dyson people. To show support for their generosity, Tom Crawford’s Sustainability team has funded extra family food packs which will be distributed to families staying in Dyson homes. With your kind support, we will continue to be vigilant and react to the developing situation.
