Hi, my name is Ron and I’m trying to help a very dear friend of mine and her daughter get back on their feet after being forced into being abused, stalked, harassed and blackmailed for two years despite trying to get help from police. What is a person supposed to do in a situation like that? When your abuser has police on his side? He held her hostage one night and took her phone and whipped her with phone cords. Neighbors heard her screams and called police. They had to jump on a dumpster to see through the windows because there was no response when they knocked. He had her barricaded in the bathroom and wouldn’t let her speak. Covid had just hit so apparently they weren’t taking people to jail for DV. They assured her it would be on the prosecutors desk and that he would be charged. They separated them. Not long after that he smashed her windshield, assaulted her then took her phone again. After all the proof and evidence had been turned in they still released him and didn’t put any protection in place. He got out and went straight to her house. It gave him even more power at that point because police couldn’t do anything if they were called. There was no evidence or report of his arrests or that anything had even happened when police looked in the computer system. He put sugar in her gas tank and totaled out her car. He was calling from different numbers and threatening them non stop. He would show up all hours of the night pounding on all the windows and doors demanding to be let in. He threatened to post horrible lies about her 17 year old daughter on Facebook. He made a post with a naked photo soliciting for sexual favors and said if she didn’t speak to him he was going to post it online to humiliate her. One of her male friends was held at gun point and he told him to stop talking to her or else he was going to kill him. She lost her job because her car was broke down now so she became very isolated, depressed and hopeless. He assaulted her again one night but this time it was in a different county. He was arrested and all the same evidence was used and he ended up being charged with aggravated assault, stalking and harassment, DV, and bond violations because he still wouldn’t stop after being arrested. They put a GPS tether on him to stay away from their address. A couple of weeks went by and he hadn’t contacted her. She was able to get a loan for a jeep because the other car needed a lot of work and a windshield. Next thing she knew she was getting a call from the prosecutors office stating that they lost GPS on him and they wanted her to beware that she was in danger. Her new jeep somehow started overheating and the heads cracked less then a month after she bought it. She just could not catch a break.Scared for their lives they felt they has no choice but to got to Arizona to stay with her best friend. They thought he would find them in Michigan because he knew where all her friends and family lived. Once they got to Arizona they needed a vehicle so she put 3000 down on one. Three weeks later they called her in to resign some papers and asked for the keys to read the mileage. He came back in and told her they were keeping the car and she needed to get ahold of corporate for her down payment back. She asked for her keys back because the car was in her name and they hadn’t served any papers. He refused and told her them to leave. After finding out there was no corporate office they went back a few days later to find the whole dealership parking lot had been cleared out. It appeared they went out of business or moved. She was unable to recover her 3000 for the down-payment. After being in Arizona for about 8 months the prosecutors office called and said he was in custody and had been sentenced to one year in jail. They were able to come back home. Two years of pure hell and abuse at the hands of police and prosecutors. Now what? They are in counseling and receiving support from a domestic violence advocate. She has no income because her unemployment benefits just stopped. No transportation because she was just screwed out of three vehicles. The crime victim compensation fund only pays for medical costs and to get any restitution she has to have a mechanic fix it first then put on the claim that It was indeed sugar that ruined it. Talk about a horrible spot to be in, especially after being traumatized and tormented with next to no support. That has to be the worst feeling to know that no one can help you, and police refuse to help you. I’m really hoping this fundraiser will help them get on their feet again. Right now I’m helping them get by but I’m only on a limited income myself. She needs help paying for rent and bills and desperately needs a vehicle so she can look for work. Thank you for reading this! Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
