A TEST OF FAITH: 1 OUT OF 15,000

Every child is a blessing. Every one of them is precious. Each is especially crafted by God and entrusted to us parents, to love, hold, mold, and protect. Our Drymm is definitely special. He is an answered prayer. We are blessed.

Born on a busy afternoon of November 20, 2020 through a Repeat Caesarian Section. Every detail of his birth day a vivid memory. I had to wait for a little less than an hour lying on the operating table. Alone yet not alone because Drymm was inside me waiting to be birthed. Sedated, I felt the needle in my spine and slowly losing the feeling of my lower body.

I lost my breath when they took Drymm and I was awake. I can hear everyone in the operating room. I watched Drymm being cleaned, dressed, and monitored. I thanked my Doctor while she was taking off her PPEs. Done, we have our bouncing baby boy. It was perfect.

He was perfect.
Drymm has dark skin that seemed yellow. His eyes started to turn yellow but wasn’t really obvious. I had all the reasons. He didn’t get enough sunlight. ABO Incompatibility. Perhaps, the delay was a blessing.

March 6th, Drymm was 3 months 14 days old. Though uncertain, we were optimistic that Drymm was fine. I guess being a pessimist has its advantages. We might have discovered his condition earlier. But as the doctor said, nothing is certain, results vary.

Drymm is clinically diagnosed with Biliary Artresia. It is a very rare condition that affects 1 out of 15,000 babies. I was literally lost in my own emotions. The only question I wanted them to answer was, “Will he still live?”. The answer, this is a race against time.

My husband is my comfort and strength. I can’t imagine how he’s holding it together knowing Drymm is sick with a rare disease and me breaking down. We are blessed with our faith. We serve a great God that miraculously heals.

But as parents, we have to be stronger for Drymm and accept his condition. We need to prepare for a battle against Biliary Artresia with our little brave warrior, Drymm.

He needs all the help he can get to win this battle against a condition that even science cannot explain its origin.

It even pains us that at times like this when we need all the moral support from our family, we have to move the battle to India.

A letter to Mr Drymm Boy

Dear #mrdrymmboy,I love watching your videos. I rarely take any but whenever I get the chance I cherish them. This is one of my favorites when we're still able to put you down and chitchat for awhile. Now, you just want to be held most of the time. I pray. . . . .
