Drought puts the Maasai at risk of starvation

Tudom, hogy kis hazánkat még nem érték el a klímaváltozás közvetlen hatásai, de nem ilyen szerencsések a lentebbi cikkben említett kenyaiak. Önző módon egy kedves maszáj ismerősömmel kapcsolatban szeretnék segítséget kérni elsősorban, akinek olyan faluba született meg gyönyörű kisbabája a napokban, ahol mindennapos problémává vált a vízhiány. Ugyan számukra még akad valamennyi víz, de az egyetlen megélhetésüket és táplálékforrásukat jelentő marháik sorra pusztulnak szomjan, a növények mind összeszáradtak, így pedig már nem alkalmasak takarmánynak sem. A rengeteg állat szenvedése mellett így  jelentős éhezéssel is szembe kell nézniük. A vadállatok migrációját is súlyosan érinti a szárazság, így kiszámíthatatlanságuk miatt ők is veszélyt jelentenek a falvak lakosaira és állataikra. Ugyan az egyszeri adomány nem oldja meg a falu problémáját, de talán a következő esős időszakig némi segítséggel lehet kedves ismerősöm családjának és a család által vezetett falunak. Nagyon örülnénk és hálásak lennénk ha akár egy kis összeggel is tudnátok segíteni. Tudom, hogy megvan mindenkinek  most a saját problémája, de nekik a kimaradt „short rain season”, és a pandémia okozta turistahiány miatt tényleg a napról napra való túlélés a tét, e kettő hiányában semmijük nincs. A pénzből elsősorban a legérintettebb családoknak vennének ételt. A pénzt a mi számlánkon gyűjtjük (jobb híján) és egy alkalmazáson keresztül utalnánk át az M-pesa nevű mobiltelefon-alapú rendszerre.

The effects of climate change have not yet reached our country, but the situation for the Kenyans mentioned in the article below is not as bright anymore. Somewhat selfishly, I am primarily asking for your help for a dear Maasai friend whose beautiful baby was born in a village where massive water shortages have become an everyday problem. Although they still have water, their cattle, their only source of livelihood and food, are dying in thirst, and the drought makes the plants all dry up such that they can no longer be used as food for animals. Because of all this, they face significant starvation in addition to the plight of many animals. The migration of wild animals is also severely affected by drought, which eventually means that, due to their unpredictability,  they pose a threat to villagers and farmed animals. Although a one-time donation will not solve the village's problem, it may help my friend and his family/village until the next rainy season. We would be delighted and forever grateful if you found a way to help, if only just by a small amount.  The lack of tourism (resulting from the ongoing covid19 pandemic) and the missed short rain season mean that survival has become a day-to-day struggle for these people.  The money would be used to buy food prioritizing the most affected families.

We are collecting money in our bank account, and we are transferring the whole sum to them using the M-Pesa system, which is the only way my friend can receive your donations.
