Drone for CA-TX Trip Film

Hey everyone! As most of you know, I'll be starting my second year at Texas A&M University in just a few short weeks. This year I'm especially excited because the trip out will be a little different; I'll be driving roughly 28 hours total, leaving the hills of the Bay Area and arriving in College Station 4-6 days later. I'll be making stops throughout Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas (of course!), and several national parks along with way.

For months, I've been playing with the idea of getting a drone for creative use to film and document events like A&M football culture, life in the Corps + March-Ins, A&M Car Club meets, to create campus-flyover videos, and of course to more professionally document some of the Bay Area's most well known features and unique landscapes. It wasn't until just a few days ago though that I realized how big of a filming opportunity this trip back to the university could be and how awesome it would be to document the trip and sights.

The problem lied in the fact that more often than not, college kids struggle to gather even half the funds required to purchase an adequate cinematographic drone, and unfortunately my case was no different. This is where you guys come in. I'm hoping I can raise enough funding in donations to finally buy a DJI Phantom drone and get started filming. In the event we reach our funding goal, any additional funds will go towards additional battery packs for the drone and lens equipment for the camera. Contributors will receive a copy of the documentary. Other work and films (including ideas listed earlier) will be uploaded to a YouTube channel later on in the semester as they are produced.
