Hi everyone! My name is Faye Recorba and I live in the province of Batangas here in the Philippines.
Dried fish for sale!Like a lot of people, I've had a difficult time securing a job during this pandemic. In order to provide for my family (I live with my parents who are both senior citizens), I started selling pre-packed dried fish around my neighborhood. I started with the initial investment of Php 500 (around $10) and has now moved up to Php 750. From 7AM to 11:30AM, I have this little table set up near the local barbershop where I sell the fish to passersby. I then go home, prepare lunch, then go out at 2PM and peddle my goods until 6PM. I earn around $2 to $3 when I completely sell out my stock, and then go back to my supplier and purchase another batch.
The rain doesn't help...
I don't mind my current setup, but one thing that has been a hurdle for me is the rain, especially now that the monsoon season has already started in the Philippines. I don't have enough funds to purchase a big enough umbrella to shield the goods and myself, so we always end up soaking wet. And the ground around me turns into a mud pool when it starts pouring.
Keeping the (dried) fish out of water.
I have this goal of having my own stall, so I'm trying to raise $1000 to construct the stall, obtain storage containers and display tables, and be able to purchase dried fish by the kilo, since it's much cheaper than buying them pre-packed. Having my own stall will provide me safety and security, I won't need to worry about the weather.and the dried fish will stay dry and properly stored. I would also have the opportunity to expand the goods that I'm selling, more variety to offer to customers.
This project is on the urgent side, since more storms and typhoons are set to come in. This is also the only source of income my family can rely on, so I really hope to be able to construct the stall immediately and purchase more goods to sell since December is coming in fast.
Whatever amount you will give will be greatly appreciated and wisely used. I pray that your act of kindness may be manifested in this project, and in turn, I may also be a blessing to others. I hope for everyone to stay safe and healthy in these trying times, may God bless us all!
