Dreams To Reality(DTR) is a small organization who serves the underserved community of Capricorn/Vrygrond. We work the children from this community and bring them sports training, computer training, reading & literacy program within local schools, holiday programs and a surf development program. We have been working with these children for 9 years running and with great success behind all of this. We have grown over the years and needed the help from international volunteers to come volunteer with these kids. Our only source of income/funding is from volunteer's program fees. With the fees we receive, we house volunteers and fund our volunteer programs within communities.
Since the arrival of Covid-19 pandemic which has impacted the whole world, borders are closed, flights grounded and local restrictions are in place, we find ourselves with little to no volunteers at the moment and have a 100 percent cancellation for the next couple of months, we are usure of how long the restrictions will be in place for.
Our local staff who work year in and out to develop and maintain these programs will be under immense pressure as their sole income is from DTR programs. The programs that we have implemented is for the community's children allows them to steer away from gangsterism, drugs, GBV and hunger. On all our programs we provide a meal, whether its a sandwich or a warm meal, on a daily basis. The volunteering program brings Hope, Love & Faith, in these uncertain times, to these children. With no funding coming in, DTR is on the verge of closing it's doors. We have been strecthed to the max with all these uncertainties in the world and can only hope for the best.
We appealing to all past, current, future volunteers, friends & family to help our wonderful staff with donations for salaries, so they may continue to do the work that they have strived to do with their whole hearts. We know this is a trying time for everyone in the world, but every donation would be really appreciated. The funds would be used for the salaries, programs and house rental so we dont get evicted from where our staff do their work from. We have pleaded with landlords for reprieve, however they not willing to work with us.

I have been thinking about the entire DTR family and all the amazing children in Capricorn that truly changed my life in ways that I never thought possible! Especially after volunteering for just a short amount of time in July, 2019. It’s incredible how these children and the DTR staff helped me to grow and gain a new perspective on life, specifically in regards to choosing your own happiness. These are some of the most heartfelt and inspiring people I have ever met and I will be forever grateful for having the opportunity to learn from them! I will continue to pray for you all and for the safety of South Africa as a whole during these unprecedented and scary times. I can’t wait to come back and be reunited with all of you again someday (hopefully in the near future)! I wish you all the best and please stay prayerful, hopeful and strong. hi all, again a huge thank for the donations its really appreciated. our lockdown here is a scary thing as we have no idea to whren we will open doors again as tourism is still shut down. We can not wait to see volunteers come in again and do the amazing work within communities and schools. Our schools are still not entirely open yet, and this is causing much distress to the families and children of southa africa. however we still stay strong and hopeful to get through this. With all your help we can achieve this to be sustainable. Our staff members who live in their respective communities are supporting with feeding the poor and vulranble. This selfless sacrifice they do is a beautiful act of kindness, love & hope. We at DTR say thank to all those all over the world doing their part to stay safe and help others. be safe and take care. love - DTR Team
