Dreams of 2013

Hello :)

My name is John Tobin, I am 24 years old and live in Hampshire England.

Leaving school not knowing what I wanted to do with my life I felt that my choices were limited due to the financial circumstances of my family.

At school I always enjoyed Woodwork and technology however I could not imagine back then it was possible make a career out of it, and I had to earn money in order to survive rather than go to college to study.

I started working in hotels to pay my way in this world, always knowing that the industry wasn’t for me but also understanding that I couldn’t do anything about it because if I was going to study, I couldn’t earn enough money to live.

Recently I Produced a coffee table out of scrap wood from an old wine crate I got from work and a cheap pine wardrobe that was going to be thrown away.

I suddenly realised that what it was I wanted to do with my life! A perfect job.. A job that I would enjoy very much and get so much pleasure from that it wouldn’t feel like a job at all.. Making furniture.

Having started looking for college courses and possibilities, I have begun saving to study, but it dawns on me that the hospitality industry with the unsociable hours and low pay is unable to accommodate me in my pursuit and it really I not possible to work in a hotel and study such a course!

Being a positive person I will always dream and I shall (fingers crossed) one day find a way to achieve my goal and I believe that with enough determination and positivity it will be possible, but right now in my current situation, its so depressing; my dream is just out of my reach!

Becoming furniture maker, owning my own workshop and producing the finest furniture in the land.

Having found this website below I continue to think this is mine, this is the course I need to realise my dream!

I also stumbled on the website you are currently visiting, and have to say that I am inspired and enlightened to see that such a site and such kindness exists and bought me here to write my own page.

Unsure of what to expect or what will happen once I post this or what response it may evoke I can only ask and would wholly appreciate your kindness and support in my cause. I am hoping to raise enough funding to take a 40 week course in furniture making that will enable me to pursue my goals and dreams of the future.
