My story

My name is Charles. I'm 23 year old self taught designer from Nakuru, Kenya. For years I have been fascinated by design and not just design but graphic design. I taught myself the basics of design through tutorials from sites such as YouTube. Through the little knowledge I obtained I have managed to design amateur logos and also graphics that I eventually used to print t-shirts and sell the t-shirts and at the end make a little money to keep me going and help purchase more t-shirts and turn the passion into a small business that I do at home. Also from my little saving I managed to get a bridging course in business management and also go for driving school.

I did apply to Edmonds community college in the USA and they sent me the application letter but I have not yet returned my application forms yet. The total tuition fee for one academic year is$18,044.40

The reason why I chose to study in the USA is because of the advanced technology they have compared to my country Kenya. Also is to interact with people of different culture and share different ideas, broaden my knowledge’s and sharpen my skill in graphic design.

I use Corel draw 13 and Corel draw 15 but also I want to learn how to design using Photoshop, and adobe illustrator.

Now I want to take two years to study graphic design. I’m especially excited about the world of design.

What I Need 

My parents and family friends have pledged to help with the air ticket and upkeep and a quarter of my first year tuition fees ($4000)

ALL I NEED IS $ 14000 FOR MY FIRST ACADEMIC YEAR

The Impact

From the knowledge I will acquire, I will be in a position to help people in Kenya get into design and excel in it.

My ambition

With the knowledge I will get I plan to return back home and teach graphic design. Give back to the community and God willing open a design school where people can nurture their captivating passion into work that will support them financially in the long run. Going to Edmonds community college is a great step towards achieving all this.

I would love to graphic for a living and also be a great designer. By helping me, you are helping a young generation prosper.
