My 2 boys have just had their dream realized after years of commitment, hard work and sacrifice. They have both been selected for 2 major karate championships. The first being The African Union Sport Council Region 5 (AUSC Region 5) to be held in Namibia 21 May 2019. The main aim of the AUSC is to use sport to achieve peace, integration and unity in Africa.
The second being the 12th WKF (World Karate Federation) Youth Training Camp & Cup hosted in Umag,Croatia 01 July 2019. They will therefore be awarded their South African sporting colours i.e. Protea colours, however, have to compete in order to receive this honour.

It is remarkable and I am so proud that both my sons could be selected for both these prestigious events as a result of being ranked in the top 2 in the country. Please allow me to share with you that my eldest son (18) has achieved this with being in Matric last year and being selected for one of the most sought after degrees at university, Bachelor of Veterinary Science. This degree is extremely competitive and his good grades and work experience saw him being selected as one of only 150 candidates in the entire country. He managed to do this and still remained completed focused on his karate. What makes it even more special, is that he has relocated and moved away from home in Cape Town to pursue his studies doing all of this on his own. He also assisted with teaching karate in our local township in order to empower underprivileged and neglected children. He has been a regional, provincial and national medalist consistently since 2016.
My youngest son (11) has followed a similar path with being a regional, provincial and national medalist consistently since 2016 also assisting children his age with training in the township to inspire them to aim for national status as he has. He has had a tough time coping without his brother at university, and has shown admirable character to navigate his own path to success. This has been an emotional and challenging journey for him. Yet, it also stands witness to his current ranking in the country. He has been selected in 2 categories (kata and kumite) for both the above mentioned championships.

Due to financial constraints I cannot sit back and allow these once in a lifetime opportunities to pass them by which they truly deserve. I am fully committed to making this a reality for my boys. And thus I am earnestly and gratefully reaching out for assistance by latest 21 June 2019, as funds need to be paid to the relevant parties for all travel arrangements and entries.

Costs for Namibia : R13 335 per athlete (travel arrangements) / R500 per individual entry / R3300 South African team wear

Costs for Croatia : R37 500 per athlete (travel arrangements) / entry fee to include WKF Training camp and participation EUR100 per athlete

**Estimates as rate of exchange fluctuates**

Thanking you in advance
From a grateful Mom
