About this campaign
This campaign is for my dear friend Mehran from Iran. His dream is to leave his country and start a life in freedom. He has to do this because in Iran, there is no hope for a good future. Now, finally there is hope and he have the chance to leave and start a new life.
We met last year during my two months travel through the beautiful country, Iran. Beside his great knowledge he is a very kind, helpful, open and intelligent person with a huge heart! He didn't know anything about me but after a few minutes he offered to host me for the next days in his home where he lives with his father, sister and his little cat.
Mehran found the cat on the street. She was about to die and he saved her life. He gave me his bed to sleep in and he slept in the living room. They prepared Iranian food for me, he showed and drove me around and I really had a good time. We also met his friends and we attended a community at their weekly "let's speak english" event. People in Iran don't really learn english in public schools so they have to study by themselves.
Due to many regulations and sanctions it's impossible for him to open such a campaign like this. Iranians can't have international credit cards, PayPal or do international transactions. That is why I support him on his way to freedom. I'm now staying in Georgia and will bring him the raised money to Iran, (my PayPal account only accept CHF that's why you see CHF in the Campaign).
Below he will introduce himself and why this campaign is really important for him and his future. Believe me this way to ask for money from you guys wasn't easy for him and he would really, really appreciate anything you can offer to help him to reach his dream of having a life and future in freedom. He can offer many things to this beautiful world. It's a pity that he is still in this "prison" and everything depends on the money.
About Mehran
Hi, my name is Mehran. I'm 28 years old, and studied petroleum engineering at university and worked a couple of years in international and Iranian companies. About 4 years ago I lost my mom and my job to sanctions. My mom had cancer and due to the sanction over the Islamic regime of Iran they couldn't provide her the proper medicines. Later when they tighten the sanctions I lost my job too.
In the past couple of years I did a variety of jobs like teaching, writing, driving a taxi and being a freelance photographer (which is my passion) to save money for leaving the country and building my future somewhere else.
Almost one year ago I tried to get the visa for Canada. I choose Canada because first of all one part of the country is English speaking, And second Canada has a petroleum industry which was my subject at university and i have experience in.
Right now, after almost one year waiting and hoping to get the visa, There is only one thing between me and Canada: the money. Because Canada have no embassy here in Iran I have to go to the Canadian embassy in Turkey. I have to pay the travel, the visa consultant, the visa fee, accommodation, the plane ticket to Canada and money for a basic life. And I have to proof that I have enough money in a bank account . I already paid a part of the money to the visa consultant, collected money from my family and I will sell my car. But...
I need 11,714 Dollar more. I know it is a lot of money to ask for, but this not only can change my life, it can effect other people too. Because I want this funding-idea to keep going. I promise to you that I donate all the money I can raise here to other causes here on gogetfunding as soon as I have a steady income in Canada.
Financial situation in Iran
Due to economic situation in Iran the value of my money is next to nothing. And it is worse every single day. Right now the exchange rate of US Dollar to Iranian Rial is about 91'250 (1 USD = 91'250 IRR). Just for clarification the minimum wage per month here is 11'140'140 IRR (=122 USD/month).
The bad economic situation is also responsible that there is not enough Dollar and Euro in Iran. That's why the prices are more expensive than the official rates are.
