Hi everyone :-)
In 2018 my dream of pursuing a career in Journalism and Media studies came true when Rhodes University accepted my application to study full-time, in pursuit of a Bachelor of Journalism degree. I was thrilled to find out that I had also secured a place in the university residence (res). Rhodes University had kindly accepted my application and given me a space in res on provision that I would secure funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
Earlier on in 2018 I had received an sms confirmation from NSFAS that my application to them had been successful. Sadly, I found out later in 2018 that NSFAS had sent me the sms by mistake because my application had in fact been rejected. As a result, I was left with a debt owing to Rhodes of a total R87 194 by the end of 2018. Rhodes was still kind enough to allow me to carry on with my studies in 2019 as my grades were good. With the addition of the 2019 fees (tuition & res), the money I now owe to Rhodes has almost doubled. I managed to secure a bursary in April to help me pay off some of the debt, but a substantial amount is still outstanding on my student account.
I would really love to carry on pursuing my dream of becoming a Journalist and Film maker without the hinderance of debt and I would really appreciate any and all the help I can get from you.
Thank you for your support :-)
