I am reaching out because I would like to make my dream of wanting to become a marine environmentalist come true.
I had the privilege of growing up on the East Coast of South Africa and the Amathole mountains and I have always been connected to mother nature and all her beauty. In my childhood I was often taught to appreciate and treat our natural gifts from the earth with respect and try to protect them as best as I can, but in the years that have past I have come to realise that humans have become more and more unaware of how their actions towards our beaches, seas and soils effect the biological life of our planet.
For the past 5 years I’ve focused myself in agriculture, as I had been primarily exposed to planting and growing your own produce as a child and only naturally this also became my occupation in my young adult life. In the last few years I have not been feeling fulfilled working in this industry, almost like working in farming is not enough and that I am not making the impact I would like make.
So I have decided to make a change, as I do not want the personal love I have for agriculture to deteriorate nor do I want to stay dreaming about making a change and then regret later in life because I am only still 25 years of age. I have spent many days thinking about what the right change would be for me that did not involve studying as I also did not have the opportunity of completing my high school education due to family related issues. A change where I could still be actively involved with the environment.
And it’s as if I have seen the light !!DIVING!!.The idea of learning, studying and exploring the world of our oceans in a practical way makes my heart skip beats and to still be a part of something that could bring awareness to how we should preserve and protect our natural environment and the wild life within it.
After extensive research into this and looking for the best and most affordable place to do this, Liquid Adventures in Tofo Mozambique seems to be adequate for me to be trained suitably. So I have calculated the amount I need to do this according to the courses that need to be completed including additional PADI fees that are not included in the course prices of the school. I will will be supporting my own living expense through the duration of the courses. The amount indicated in the fundraiser is solely towards the courses.
With this I aspire to also learn about the biology of our oceans, and to one day be an activist in protecting all life that lives within our oceans. I feel that I should be brave and take this giant leap, try my best to make my dream of a better change for me come true.
So I am reaching out to whomever thinks that this is a worthy cause and is willing to help me as the circumstances of life prevent me of being able to do it all on my own.
Here is how you can help:
1. Please send me any quick tips or advice, particularly any helpful info that might assist me to find a path through diving into marine environmental work. If you know anyone who I could contact to find out more that would be a real help! Please drop me an E-mail [email protected]
2. Help me reach my goal with your own kindness and support. Every little contribution to this fundraiser will go towards making my personal goal come true by helping me to be trained in Mozambique to become a diver master in the next 3 months.
3. Tell me what you think of this plan, and suggest how to make it better! I know that everyone has big dreams – how would you make this one a reality?
