Dream Project: A Visual Bridge Between Cultures

Hello! I am Çigdem from Turkey. I have a dream ‘‘Dream Project’’ and I need you to support me! But of course you would want to know the person you are supporting (hopefully). By the way I am already greatful to meet you.

So, Who is Çigdem?

I am a 23-year-old graphic student at Anadolu University which is a well known school to study graphics in Turkey. At the end of this semester I will gratuate. Thus it is a great time to make my dream come true. The way I find meaning in my life is by drawing.While I am growing up the things I see, the stories I hear and the emotions I feel come into being through my drawings. By means of that I grow further. It has always been like this. Since I have discovered my talent I began sketching the world around me, the people I’m surrounded with and the environment I spend my time in. The experiences I have stay alive in my life’s diary sketchbooks. From now on, I do not want my drawings to be limited my culture. Here is where the story of my project begins.

What is my dream project?

Every detail in the universe is precious. If we are a part of this universe we should know what is happening here. Even on this big earth which is a tiny place is the universe, we are too far from each other although we use social media a lot. We do not really see what is happening on the other side of the world or on the next street from our house. Knowledge is reality, seeing is the most effective way of learning to many people especially for me. I want that every kind of person from all over the world to notice something about everyone else, how they are living their culture. Since culture is a thing that seperates us even before we discovered ourselves. But I feel lucky because there are a lot of things to see all over the world that are waiting for me without knowing that I am coming to share with you! I want to be a bridge between cultures through my drawings. As my dream project I want to discover different cultures and reflect them on my sketchbook diaries and share all of my experiences with you. The first stop in my adventure is Japan. As you can see from my drawings Japan perfectly matches my style. I am in love with colors and lines. The real life version of these things are present in the life of Japan. This familiarity will be helpful for me to share the culture and the experiences I have more occurately in my drawings, since this is a long Journey, another reason for my decision is that I can be more confident and motivated along the entire journey.

How you can support me?

First of all I need your all kind of support. You can support me on a specific topic. During the trip, you can also support me specifially. Like being a sponsor only for my water or shelter and so on. One of the most important point is please share my project on your social media!

How much money I need?

• 1000 dolars for flights.
• 1000 dolars for accommodation for 40 days.
• 1000 dolars for daily expenditure for 40 days. 450 dolars for rail pass (1 month train ticket).
• 1000 dolars book printing. (More or less 300 books)
