I saw this old man sitting in one corner at the bustling city of Manila (near city hall outside 7/11) and it breaks my heart to see his struggle as he looks at every person's face passing by on him. While no one seems to notice, i stopped to give him water and biscuit that i always have on my bag, i also asked him to come inside to 7/11 so we could sit down and chitchat for a bit. He smiled, went inside the store, said thanks and immidiately feast on the small food i have given him (breaks my heart even more to see how hungry he was) I then started a conversation.
He told me that he is from mindanao (iligan) he went here looking for his only family, his daughter that he have not seen for over 36 years now. Tatay Caloy is 87 years old and does not have anyone else but his daughter. He wanted to be with her before he said it was too late for him. But then just this year he got a news that his daughter passed away 7years ago from a heart complication (he could hardly explain all the details)
He wanted to go back to Mindanao as some of his friends are there and could help take care of him.
I could only help so much since i am just a student here.
I know there are still a lot of people out there who has a golden heart that could help him. I am hoping to raise funds for him to buy a plane ticket back to Mindanao and some pocket money for his daily needs.
Thank you in advance for everyone.
