A Lifelong Wish

Hello, my name is Yannick, 28, living in Germany.

I'm a self-taught language learner and teacher.

I have a dream which appears almost impossible to achieve: My lifelong wish is to learn calligraphy in Japan.

I've been battling with depression and anxiety for the most part of my life due to a bad childhood / bullying and found an escape in movies. Especially in asian cinema.

Fascination with the Japanese language begun almost 9 years ago, when I finished High School and fell into a very deep depression as I wasn't able to cope with University.

I became very interested in all sorts of languages as a method of therapy through cinema, which was proposed to me by my therapist.

My innermost wish is to travel to Japan and learn their language and culture and finally be able to heal a little more in the process.

My plan is to do a cultural visa in calligraphy.

For the last few years I've been working towards fulfilling my dream. It's been very difficult and I need your help with this final stretch of the way!

To be able to do the cultural visa I need to be staying somewhere in Japan. This means I'll need sufficient funds to travel and with this I'm humbly asking for your help. Once I'm there I'll stay at a Zen monastery, which will allow me to find places to apply for the visa while not having many monetary expenses.

Any help, no matter how little it may seem, will bring me one step closer to making my lifelong dream a reality, and will never be forgotten!
