Campaign Story
I have received a job offer to go and build a new NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation - like a charity) in Itacare, Brazil with my old boss from Peru.
'Eco Tourism and International Volunteerism of Brazil' (ETIV) will connect international travellers with eco-tours, cultural education and volunteering opportunities with local community projects to support development and environmental conservation in northern Brazil.
Not only is this a dream opportunity for me, but there are currently no other NGOs like this functioning in the area - locals have told my ex-boss how desperately work is needed to reduce poverty and preserve and revive the crucial, yet endangered mangroves.
I will be running the Folkestone Half Marathon on Sunday 27th September hoping to receive enough sponsorship to get me there in November and support me until we get this NGO off the ground!
Words cannot describe how much I would appreciate any donation of even the smallest amount. Let's see if I can make it!

Update posted by Monique Dray at 01:56 pmAlthough it might not look like it... I've hit my first �100! I've got �85 registered on the page but my aunt has also sent me a cheque for �15. Gogetfunding are too smart to allow me to make a payment from my own bank account so I'll transfer it

Finally got my security sorted on my computer- i think! so i hope this will help you a little Monique! so proud of how much you've raised already and what your doing!-wish i was as brave and crazy as you! hopefully on day when your NGO is getting going i can be more useful and come and offer any little conservation experience i have. you put that volunteering bug in me again :) xxx
