DREAM.

I have dreams. They aren't the dreams that I see while sleeping, but dreams that doesn't let me sleep. Every time I share my dreams to someone, all I get are replies with “you can’t” and “it’s impossible” prefixed to their sentences accompanied with huge laughs. I don’t blame them; it’s perfectly normal for people to laugh at someone who wish to be different and dream big. But, I wasn't a guy who steps down just because they said I couldn't. After years of living in a caged environment, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and wanted a change. I realized that some things cannot be taught with just dozens of books or within four walls. I wanted to travel, meet new people, learn new cultures and experience new lifestyles. Not just to change myself but also to change others. Importantly, I wanted to set out an example for people to follow their dreams no matter how hard it is.

Having been born and raised in a family amidst rural-India where everyone was caged by a perception that life’s accomplishment only connotes to become a lucrative doctor, I found it extremely difficult to make them understand my passion for technology and travel. Whenever I tell my relatives that I want to travel to a distant land and study computer science, they would literally give me a look as though I murdered someone. In their opinion, computer science was no more than just a low earning field; they were keen about the salary yet I was keen on my passion. As they say love is blind, I still have no clue about what attracted me to it.Ever since I got my computer at the age of 8, I was fascinated by the works of a computer and I decided to learn more about them. With an old programming book by my side,I started to learn the basic programming languages and things related with hardware. For a little boy to learn c++ on his own was quite an achievement, but no one in my family felt the same way.My parents thought that if I don’t become a doctor, I will never be rich again, but my vision of learning was different,I learned science to explore the magic hidden in our world. When I said to everyone that I wanted to pursue my undergraduate education in the USA, my friends burst out laughing that I will never make it possible. But still, I tried hard and harder. I loved what I did and never got scared of anything other than regret.

From waking at 4 am in the morning to sleeping at 11 pm at night, from coping with people who were not at all supportive to people who believed in my dreams. I always worked towards studying in America. It was not just to build up a resume, but for the chance to experience a variety of cultures and learn, connect and grow with people with different ideas and dreams. I wanted to elevate my knowledge and use technology to make this world a much better place. After two years of Ups and Downs, I got accepted into Drexel University for Fall-2018 for Computer science major. Here, the question arises, “How are you going to bring out a revolution in the level of education by majoring in domains like computer science or technology?” This world would not have seen Khan Academy or Wikipedia if Salman Khan or Jimmy Wales thought that technology wouldn’t work out as an ideal medium for spreading knowledge. But unlike many countries, not just India, but several other underdeveloped countries needs much more than interactive videos and internet sites. This world has several problems, water scarcity, food shortage, void of schools and education. I hope to change this scenario and help people without expecting anything in returns. I wanted a platform to bring the change and decided to pursue computer science, my favourite subject .BUT, despite getting a 50% scholarship, the joy of seeing my acceptance letter didn't last long. The tuition rates for international students were daunting. My dream of studying abroad were shattered. The tuition fee was extremely high and my parents were never able to afford the money. I felt reluctant to tell my parents about this wonderful news and my years of hard work started to get crushed within seconds. I was enrolled in my dream university and got into my dream major, but was not able to achieve it just because I didn't have enough money. I felt terrible.

Despite the criticism, the unsupportive replies and discouraging laughs, I came all this way up here and I don't want this to end here. I don't want to revert back from this point. It'll leave the people who supported me, the people who are following my path, with disappointment. The students who loved what I did and my dreams will be never able to believe in their dreams again. I'm certain that I will pave path for a few hundred people who will in turn help a thousand. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get there and bring a change. I want to get into as much study abroad programmes in colleges and involve in as much volunteering works.

Please, I kindly request you to help me with whatever you can. However low the money is, it'll be still a big source of motivation and support. I'll be forever grateful to everyone who helped me. Do consider it as helping someone who managed to dream where no one else couldn't. Please, I have nothing to lose but everything up ahead. Even a very small donation will help me a lot. I'm planning to take educational loans and my parent's savings to fill up maximum expenses, but I will not be able to complete my 4 years just with that. So please do help me with whatever you can to I would appreciate any advices and question you have for me. I'm more than willing to tell all about myself. I’m also willing to work on line or do some volunteering work if there’s any chance of doing it. Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
